Audio Summaries

Audio summaries are generated much faster now

Faster

With many articles, switching lists, opening Discover and switching articles on Mac are faster than before

What changed: on an account with tens of thousands of articles, each list switch used to take about half a second; the list is now fetched in the background. Unread and starred counts are also computed in the background, so the sidebar no longer freezes when a sync saves. On Mac the toolbar used to be rebuilt on every article switch; it isn't any more. The first restore from iCloud on a new device no longer rescans the whole library after every batch it receives.

Refreshing Feeds

Refreshing no longer re-downloads feeds that haven't changed, and old articles are cleaned up in batches so they no longer slow down launch

List Summaries

You can summarize a category, a feed or the unread list. The summary is split by topic, and every point links to its article

Code and Formulas

Code blocks in articles are now highlighted, and math formulas display correctly

Mac

On Mac, every action is now in the menu bar with a keyboard shortcut, and Settings has been reorganized

iCloud

The first restore of an iCloud account on a new device is faster and shows progress, and sync errors now say what went wrong and what to do

Read Article Retention

How long an iCloud account keeps read articles can now be set separately, one month by default
