Audio Summaries: Transforming RSS Reading

Today, there's too much to read and too little time, even after filtering out noise with RSS and PoweReader's AI Picks and AI Summaries. But sometimes, even reading summaries requires focusing on the screen—like during a commute.

PoweReader's Audio Summary feature transforms any article into a high-quality voice narration, freeing reading from the eyes and allowing you to absorb information through your ears, anytime, anywhere.

When Reading Meets Real Life

The inspiration for developing this feature primarily came from problems encountered while using PowerReader daily: several times on the subway, it was so crowded I could barely take out my phone to read attentively, yet I didn't want to miss interesting content.

It was precisely such scenarios that prompted me to develop the Audio Summary feature. Now, you can:

  • Listen to the morning news during your morning run
  • Digest that in-depth analysis in your professional field on your commute
  • Catch up on the latest industry trends while doing chores

Since implementing this feature, my reading habits have undergone subtle but significant changes. Previously, I always used the summary feature to quickly grasp the main points of an article. Now, I find that audio summaries allow me to easily absorb information without needing to stare at the screen.

This not only improves my reading efficiency but also gives those longer articles I might have otherwise ignored a chance to be digested. By listening instead of reading, I can sometimes understand the content from different perspectives, perhaps because slowing down the information intake gives more space for thought.
