How to connect a Fever server
- Find your server's Fever address in its settings or documentation, and turn on Fever access there if it's off.
- On iPhone, tap + in the account list. On Mac, open Settings › Accounts and click Add Account.
- Choose Fever.
- In API Endpoint, enter the full Fever address, such as https://example.com/fever/. PoweReader uses it exactly as you enter it and doesn't add anything.
- Enter the username and password your server uses for Fever.
- Tap Add (on Mac, click Add). PoweReader checks your details, closes the form, and loads your feeds and articles in the background.
Fever or a dedicated option
Fever is a protocol that many RSS servers support, not a service of its own. If your server is FreshRSS, Miniflux, or Tiny Tiny RSS, choose its own option in PoweReader instead: the setup is simpler, and Miniflux and Tiny Tiny RSS connect through their full APIs. Use Fever for other servers that offer it.
What syncs
Unread and starred articles sync both ways. Mark an article read or starred in PoweReader and the change goes to your server. Changes you make in your server or in another app show up in PoweReader on the next refresh. If you're offline, PoweReader keeps your changes and sends them when the connection is back.
Adding and removing feeds
Your server stays the place where you add, remove, and organize feeds. PoweReader reads your feed list from your server on every refresh, so a feed you add there appears in PoweReader after the next refresh. Fever groups come along as categories, and each feed stays in its group. You can export your feed list as OPML from PoweReader at any time.
If the connection fails
"Incorrect username or password" means the server rejected the sign-in. "Request Error" usually means the address is wrong: it has to be the full Fever address, not the server's home page. Each message is followed by "Verification failed. Check your account details and try again".
AI on top of your feeds
Reading is free. If you want help with long or foreign-language articles, Premium adds AI summaries, inline translation, and audio summaries for every article, including the ones from your server.
Frequently asked
- Which servers work with the Fever option?
- Any server that offers a Fever-compatible API. For FreshRSS, Miniflux, and Tiny Tiny RSS, PoweReader has dedicated options that are easier to set up.
- What address do I enter for Fever?
- The full Fever address your server documents, such as https://example.com/fever/. PoweReader doesn't add a path, so the server's home page address won't work.
- Do starred articles sync over Fever?
- Yes. Starring an article in PoweReader saves it on the server, and saved items on the server show up as starred in PoweReader.
- Is PoweReader free to use with a Fever server?
- Yes. Connecting a Fever server, syncing, and reading are free on iPhone and Mac. Premium is only needed for AI features.
- Does PoweReader work with Fever on Mac?
- Yes. PoweReader has a native Mac app. Add the same Fever account there, and read and starred states stay in step through Fever.
